I need to get a holly tree stump out, well at least just below ground level to carry my border on. I have tried digging round it and going to about 3 foot and cutting all roots as I go. But it got no give yet at all. I cannot tie it to a car and pull out as its in my garden. Any advice whats the best way to get these pain in the asses out ?

not done a holly tree, but done quite a few others in my own garden. as well as digging a few feet from the stump, chopping roots as i go, i try to dig under the main stump and sort of undermine it: remember roots will be going downwards as well as outwards from the stump. i often find that the stumps move hardly at all until the last big root is cut, so you might not necessarily be doing it wrong.
