Hi there don’t know if you lot could help me with this but I am interested in applying for Home insurance.

There is a lot of different websites i.e. comparethemarket, confused.com, moneysavingsupermarket.

Are the websites all the same and just obviously have different names?

No, different websites, but broadly offering the same.

If you go to moneysavingexpert.com, there is a guide about which comparison website is best, and the order to search them in to get the best deal

Websites are brokers - generally selling policies from the same insurers on commission.

You need to check the wording of whoever's policy you are interested in there may be differences in cover.

Ended up using confused.com.

Just waiting for an email with the quotation

How come I haven’t received my email regarding the quotations? I did the form yesterday evening!

You get the quotes instantly on the screen online, and the top 1 or 3 then emailed to you.

just check the T&C's - i also talk direct to the insurance companies - not all the details apply and they miss things out , so i ALWAYS check the policy with the company - last i need is cheap insurance to be invalid or not cover things - like contents sets
it will give rough idea
companies like direct line do not go on comparison sites (they do via a separate name).

Also the law changed recently , where companies are not allowed to offer better deals to new customers, so not sure how that has impacted on price

i use comparethemaket , just to get an idea - and i get an email pretty instantly

I rang confused.com and they said you put your email address in wrong.
Ok tell me how they know what exactly I typed. I always make sure my email is correctly put in and it wasn’t wrong.

They failed to send me an email and are now trying to justify it

its all good. I scrapped confused and instead did moneysupermarket. Got instant results. Now I need to decide which company to go for.

Cheapest company is GetSafe

I had a question. What option should I choose for the amount of excess?

What does that amount actually mean?

Should I select £100?
