Hoover AL 130 Washing Machine

Can anyone help me - I've spent the entire day wrestling with this blasted machine! As soon as the machine is turned on, it shows Error code I, alternating with error code 4. Appparently Code 1 is a faulty door switch (door is opening and closing normally) and code 4 is the water overfill protection. I have checked the pump and the filter, and also taken off the pressure chamber bottle and blown through the tubing (the switch clicks).
Any ideas PLEASE?

Thanks for the suggestion. Gias proved particularly unhelpful - they will only book a service call and would not let me speak to anyone in their engineering department. One thing I did gaim was not to buy another Hoover machine! Thanks for the idea though.
