Open the door & check if there is any up/down slack on the drum, then spin it by hand & listen for rumbling/grinding sounds (remove the drive belt if necessary). If you find either the bearings are damaged. Washing a single or heavy item can also cause symptoms similar to those you describe. Other possible causes could be damaged shock absorbers or a broken/detached drum spider.
