Horizontal cylinder, thermostat not operating.

The hot water in your tank rises to the top. The water at the bottom being the coldest. Is there some way you can re-locate the thermowell? Or perhaps the cylinder has been installed incorrectly orientated so the thermowell is in the wrong place, adjacent to, or even worse below the primary coil.

If you are a sparky you need to get a suitably qualified G3 guy on site to determine the fault. No offence.

I was unhappy leaving it so have left them with just the immersion heating the water. I'm waiting on a call from Telford technical to see if they can shed any light on it. No offence taken, I'm aware of the dangers of unvented cylinders and have wired many over the years and seen enough DIY disasters to know to be cautious when offering advice.

Aparanetly a de stratification pump needs to be fitted. I have no clue what this is but the plumber wasn't happy when he was told.

Stratification = the opposite of natural circulation. The suggested pump would establish a flow past your primary coil so the water is a more consistent temperature throughout.
