I wondered where to post this as it has electrical, plumbing, smart home automation and green implications..
My hot tub is elderly (2004) but was really good quality and has basically been running (almost) continually ever since. It basically runs between 36 and 38 degrees 365 days a year and I use it every day
It has three pumps but only one really gets used and this pump it is now leaking and needs replacing. I looked at a getting a new completely new control unit but none of the modern control panels fit my shell - also it is a very costly exercise
My thought was to keep all the existing electrics as-is and bypass the spa temperature control completely. Using the heat pump to maintain the temperature of the water
Electrics - simple small ASHP - effectively keeping 1000L of water at a constant 36/38-deg
Plumbing - Plumbing ASHP output into hot tub (can the hot tub pump override/augment the ASHP?
Smart Home - Integrating the ASHP (probably semi-automated) with Octopus Agile and my 5.8kw solar array
Green - Allegedly MUCH lower costs - Ostensibly 80% but I take that number with a pinch of salt
I would be very grateful for any advice and recommendations or experience with any aspects of the above
