Hot water but no CH

This Ideal Mini C combi is approx three years old. It functions fine for hot water but will not operate for CH. Nothing at all no sounds of a fan or sparking or a pump running. A plumber reccommended calling BG to use their fixed price repair scheme, £150.00, I believe. Just wondering if anyone could give any insight into what the problem may be and whether it is likely to justify the £150.00 cost. Might the repair be cheaper assuming that a reliable local company could be found to carry it out. Thanks.

Last I heard BG's scheme was £190 and doesn't apply in London.

It could be faulty external controls, possibly a stuck flow switch, ummm

If it's a PCB you might pay a bit more, otherwise rather less.

what is the room stat set to? (assuming you have a room stat)
does it click when you turn it up ?

No room stat. RE: BG, have seen big posters around town with the £150.00 mentioned. We are not in London.
