Hi there,
I have a very standard 15 year old system which is giving me all the hot water I could want but has completely ceased to give me central heating. I get hot water everywhere. my pump seems to work, the timer works and obviously the hot water part of the boiler works. my gut feel is that the honeywell diverter is not functioning. there is no noise or reaction of any kind anywhere when i turn the heating in to constant or call for it via the timer.
any ideas would be grateful received.
many thanks in advance

You are probably right. Try looking in the diverter valve head to see if the switch operating lever is moved across when heating is selected. The valve may be mechanically stuck, you can check this by removing two screws to release the head from the body, then twisting the spindle.

Remove double post. (DIYnot verrrryyy slooowwww this morning)

Thanks oilman.
It is definatley the divider. I have been able to manually move the switch and get heating, obviousley it switches off (and not again) when temp is reached. Now I guess its a case of replacing it. Do you think this is a diy job? I am able to drain the system etc and wiring is fine. What do you think

If you are thinking of draining the system to change the motor head on a honeywell diverter valve, then I think you will find there is no need to.
Also with the motor head removed first try twisting the spindle as suggested by oilman, it can tend to stick a little. I applied a squirt of WD 40 to mine while turning it.

Had a similar problem recently, the honeywell motor in the valve was just tired. New motor from B&Q was £8. Two screws and two wires to connect, took 10 minutes, just remember to switch the power off first, ouch.

:D
Thanks to you all for your help and advice. I want through all the trouble shooting and eventually decided it was the motor valve. I changed the small motor (cost me £15) and low and behold, it all works!! Lovely when you know how. With this success I am planning to become a central heating engineer and will be setting up in a town near you soon! Not really, but thanks, you helped save me tons of cash and also helped me move from novice to amateur!!
