Hot Water tank

I have a faulty hot bath tap, so I need to turn the hot water. However, the hot water comes from a heated tank and there are no cut off valves.
So my thought is to turn off cold water at the stop tap and then drain the tank. ( Open tap until it stops).
When the tank is empty is it worth/ possible to add a stop valve near the tank so I can isolate in the future without emptying the tank.
Also the cold water has a pressure vessel.
I have attached pictures of the tank pipe work.
Any thoughts or issues.

Turn cold supply off will it will stop hot after a small amount has run off,no need for a hot isolation valve.
On another note it’s a very poor installation that is not to standard.

Thanks for your reply. The tank was fitted in 2015 by a local company, so I hoped it was ok.
So if I turn the cold water stop cock off, am I correct In thinking this will also stop hot water flowing from the tank after a small amount of hot water has been run off. Not sure I understand how that works.

Not sure I understand how that works.

The cold water going in, 'pushes' the hot out. Once the pressure is exhausted, the hot flow will stop, providing the temperature of the water inside, is not increased.

Thanks for the explanation. So cold stop off, turn water heaters off, then run hot tap for a short while.
Would I need to re pressurise again after, or will turn everything back on be enough.

No, when you turn the stop tap on, it will repressurise via the mains water pressure.

Obviously, greatly modified since the original install, by a wanna-be plumber.

I assume a professional plumber would not use push fit connectors. Same guy installed a new kitchen sink with push fits.
