on my sons washing machine the start/cancel switch is not working but the on/off button is fine,
i removed the top cover and front cover to have a better look. the switches are under a circuit board.
do i need to replace the switches as a pair and how do i gain access to them w/o damaging the circuit board?
thanks in advance

Unclip the pcb make sure the micro switch is on the pcb they have a habit of breaking on the solder joint. It's very very small don't lose it or u will need a top pcb.

i now have an understanding of how similarly manufacturers make money on parts, after visiting a spares shop in solihull.
the helpful chap got on his computer and then informed me that the two switches (on/off and start/cancel) were part of the top PCB and could,nt be replaced on their own. to make matters worse if i went down the route of replacing the PCB it came as a blank and hotpoint would need to come out and set it up/programme it for a fee, which made the repair uneconomic.is this the usual practise? because i thought boiler manufacturers could make you bend over but these guys could teach them a lesson in lightening your wallet.
any advice please?

No the top pcb does not need to be configured just plug and play ,the bottom one does. That's why I said just resolder it new top pcb about 60 quid.
