Hotpoint Aquarius not fast spinning

I've got a WMA40 which is only a year and a half old (unfortunately not under warranty anymore) and yesterday I was washing just one hoodie in it (the hoodie is pretty bulky) and when I went down to check on it later in the day, the Fast Spin light was flashing, and the End light was on, and the door was unlocked.

I thought it pretty odd, and when I checked the hoodie it was soaking wet! I tried running it through just a fast spin cycle but the spin doesn't kick into fast anymore, it just keeps going on slow!

Any ideas? How do I check if the machine is blocked somewhere?

To make things a bit more complicated, we use "Ecoballs" instead of washing powder -- these are plastic balls about the size of your fist with little beady things inside that "ionize" your wash. And when the initial soaking hoodie wash happened, one of the Ecoballs had come apart, spilling a handful of these beads into the machine. I *think* the beads are just big enough that they don't fit through the holes in the washing machine drum, but I dunno - a couple may have escaped and be stuck somewhere.

Having read lots of advice on several of these forums, I've come to the conclusion that the pressure system is probably blocked.

So how do I unblock it? Do I turn the machine over? What do I look for? Does anyone have a diagram handy they can direct me to?

If you take the lower rear panel off you will get access to the bottom hose and the water level pressure vessel, secured with Jubilee type clips. It is easy enough to remove these for cleaning. You will find the bottom hose contains a cage with a ping pong ball inside. This bit can get choked with rubbish like sweet papers.

i beg to differ.

i suspect that you m/c did not actually spin your load, since as you said it is bulky, to spin something that is bulky will cause a m/c to go out of balance and shake violently.new hotpoints detect the load and if it can not distribute the load evenly it will not spin it.

Try again, and see what happens, and post back

You are probably right Breezer but what I suggested is a fairly easy job and eliminates a couple of possible problems. I've found quite a few of these balls jammed with old cotton buds, nails etc.

Thankyou very much for your answer breezer i took out the load and started it on spin again and off it went so i'll remeber to tell our lass in future to balance out the load better.
