hotpoint aquarius washer wont start?

my washer has stopped working it wont start, well when start is pressed there almost like a small click or clunk but it does not start, the wash light is on and the door locked. (but i notice the lock light is not on!)
do you know what i should try?

Hi,

yes they were well worn and I have now replaced,
unfortunatly before I did this I had a tinker with the door lock also and broke it!(I put the connector back on the wrong way round and it went bang!!

I have fitted a new one but It's still not starting! have i blown something on the board?

Yes, you will have blown the copper strip on the circuit board that supplies neutral to the door interlock. If you have the skill and equipment you could repair this by soldering in a wire link.
