hi
my wd540 washer dryer pump starts to empty and shuts down after a couple of seconds does anyone have any idea whats causing this

thanks

hi
thanks for your quick response ,,it is a washer dryer and the model number may be WLD540 OR ITS WD540 the number is slightly scuffed
when i put it on an empty cycle the pump starts to empty the water but stops after a couple of seconds and the machine goes onto pause

yes it fills and the inner drum turns to wash cycle although i haven't tried it on a spin cycle it wont go past the first wash cycle because the water does not pump out,the pump starts for about 2 to 3 seconds and it shuts down and goes to pause mode

Remove the lid and on the right hand side of the heater box should be two blue wires attached to the thermistor, disconnect them , any change on the pump out.

thanks for your reply,,i will do it tomorrow as its my sisters machine ,,and i will let you know the outcome as soon as i have done it
many thanks

Make sure there's no water in the drum them remove the thermistor from the wash heater , behind the rear lower panel to get to it. Then just hook it onto the two wires on the heater box if it works u need a new thermistor. Be careful once the heater thermistor is out do not put water in it cos it will flood the floor. This process is for a test only.

thanks
i will give it a try ,,,is there any other checks i can make as i wont be able to get back online from her house so any other checks you can suggest would be much appreciated

You can check if it spins and fills also check the ohms of the washer heater should be 25 ohms.

will do ,,is there any other checks you can suggest i should try to any other parts if it isn't the thermistor at fault,,?

hi again
i tried bypassing the thermistor but it still has the same fault
do you know if there is anything else i can try to rectify this problem ?

thanx

How did you bypass it. Did u swap it with the one in the wash heater.
