Switched it on this morning and the on/off light is continuously flashing whilst the top two options on the left hand side (crease reduce and somethign else) flash together every second. We've had no warnings of any faults - no noises or wrong washes. None of the buttons work except the on/off one so I can't run a cycle or anythign.
Hotpoint helpline says the flashing just means call an engineer out rather than a specific error reporting (yeah right!) and as its 20 months old, want £90 to fix it or £140 to fix it and give me 12 months warranty against any futher faults.
We thought we'd try to figure out what was wrong with it, see if we can fix it ourselves (I build pcs and the hubby used to be an electrician so worth a go!!), or just buy a new one.
Any ideas or anyone with insider knowledge of flashing? Thanks in advance!
