When I switch my washing machine on water pours out of the detergent draw. Why?

I have cleaned the detergent draw. Although I don't use detergent in the draw, I use liquid tabs direct into machine. The water seems to be filling slowly into the machine when switched on then pouring out of the detergent draw.
