My condenser dryer starts heating up then trips to cold, is this a thermostat problem?

Lots to check if it starts to heat then stops.

Poor airflow through the condenser, has it been cleaned out properly and regularly
Pump and float chamber at the rear clogged, does water get pumped up to the tank (simple to test)
Fan or drum not rotating
Heater element clogged, fluff charring on it.

Does a red light on the front come on at all.

Perhaps I need a manual ( I never had one as a friend gave it to me)
THe red light did come on, then went out when the heat stopped. I left it awhile and tried again but the light didnt come on. I just tried it now and the light came on, but it will go out again.
Drum is rotating, not sure about fan. How do I check all these things please? I am determined to fix it myself as I am sure it cannot be anything I cant handle. Look forward to your reply.
