hotpoint ultima extra door lock light on when door is shu

I am unable to get our hotpoint ultima ( WMM65) to work because it will not accept that the door is shut. The light stays on to tell me the door is not shut, although it is!!!!!! Because of this it will not kick in to any program so is unusable. All this on the day before xmas eve. NIGHTMARE!!!! Appreciate any advice. Cheers.

Could be a faulty door interlock.

Unplug your appliance before working on it.
