Hi, we just moved into a new (old) home and part of the deal was that the washer\dryer remained. It's a Hotpoint WD61, and we cannot get it to work. The vendors swear it was working when they left, and the soap tray does look like a wash was done recently. Tried the fuse that is in the in the wall switch, and the one in the plug, on other appliances and they work. Tried other appliances in the wall socket and they work. Cutoff the sealed plug that came with the washer and rewired a new one. The On\
/Off switch on the machine is in the out (On) position and the door is closed tight (although the red light is not illuminated). Still no luck. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Herb

PS: Merry Christmas All!

the button has been pressed in and out so many times I am afraid of breaking it :). But it does click on/off when pressed, and the picture on the machine shows that out is on?

On this model button out is On. Give the door a push where it locks into the machine or close it quite hard. Sounds like a duff door interlock.

Unplug your appliance before working on it.

Hi again, thanks for the help. been away for the holidays so late replying. i replaced the door switch/interlock and no change. then took the timer to a local shop and they visually inspected it said it looks fine. no holes visible in the rubber door boot. ???

Time to get the multimeter out and carry out basic fault finding.
Check continuity across the on/off switch as a start.

Hi again, thanks for the help. Did the multimeter test, and it ended up being the fuse was blown in the plug. DOH! It must have blwn when replacing the door interlock becauseit was a good fuse. ????

Now I'm replacing the door gasket\seal. Having a problem fitting the retainer ring on the outside of the seal, at the door. Does the white plastic part, where the ends of the wire retainer clip fit into, come apart in order to fit the ring? Or is there a trick?? Thanks in advance. Herb

if you mean the small clip you can only see when you open the door yes it does, or at least they used to

yes, it does come apart if you push on the small button in the center. then put the two wire ends in the respective slots and snap it back together. thanks
