Hello,

Tried the washing machine this morning and it wouldn't power up. Changed the fuse, tested the socket etc all fine.

Had a read on some previous topics here and tried to fiddle with the door lock and after a while the machine came back to life and seems to be working fine.

I'm going to be renting this place out (tenants in tomorrow) as I'm moving abroad in a week.

Is it fair to assume the door catch is faulty and if so is it an easy enough replacement? Also where is best to get one?

Thank you

Hi there,

The cost of changing the door catch on these Hotpoint machines can be done for around £20, they can be purchased from any appliance specialist online or on the high street, also expect the fitting time to take around 5-10 minutes for any novice Diy’er.

Can you confirm if you have tried the following.

Have you felt to see if there is much play in the door when closed?
When the machine failed to power up try pushing the door in to see if the machine will now power up?

Let us know how you get on..
