Hotpoint WMA50 Problem

Hi

I am hoping someone can help me with a frustrating problem. My WMA50N stopped working mid wash and the door locked light was flashing.

Changed the door lock, still no joy so checked the control module, found a blown track so repaired this. Lights working correctly now but the drum would not turn. Checked the brushes looked a bit dodgy so changed these (for good measure also cleaned out the 'filter chamber'.

The machine now fills with water and the drum turns once then stops. Machine pauses for a couple of minutes then the drum turns once more and stops, it does this about four times and then the end light comes on. It does this on all cycles including spin only. It seems to be filling and draining correctly. I have reset the control module and checked it is configures correctly - made no difference.

No idea what to try next - any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It is a bit violent. At least its not as gentle as I remember.

Look for a broken wire on the front weight. The loom goes from the motor plug to pcb.

Thanks. I have had a look nothing obvious no rubbing or burn marks I will pull the loom out and put a meter on it. In the meantime I am not certain I reconnected a couple of cables correctly to the pcb, I took a photo before disconnecting it and i realise it is a little ambiguous - its the two single cables with terminals the only two singles on the board. I don't know what they do one of them goes to what I think is the level switch, if they were reversed could this be the cause ?

Yes it's in the right place it's the only singles. That fault is a taco also check the disc at the rear of the motor is tight and the two wires on the disc are not broken.

If I swap the two singles over and the right in the first place is there any danger I could damage the pcb?

No , but if you done the other checks I recon the motor has taken out a component on the pcb. Is the motor plug in properly and the wires facing up towards the drum cos if not that can blow the pcb as well.

Hi, tried all you have suggested no cable / motor faults so it looks like the pcb. After looking at a huge pile of washingI went out this afternoon and bought a new machine! Thanks very much for your help greatly appreciated as I am now confident that it wasn't going to be a simple or cheap repair.
