Hotpoint WT540 lid/top jammed

hi all.
I have a Hotpoint WT540 that I need acess to the inside of, have removed the two screws located in the plastic lugs but even though I have tried to push,pull, and lift the lid/top I cant get the blighter to come off!!..Can one of you WM boffins please give me the guidance I need to arrange this.It is making an awful knocking noise and I'm going to see whats what. Thanks in anticipation ...jm :LOL:

thanks....that worked a treat but unable to see whats causing the row it just seems to knock at a particular point in each revolution like as if something is being knocked against by a part of the drum...the sound feels like its coming from the hub of the drum..not in the motor...can feel it knock in the centre from inside and outside the drum.. :confused:
Any idea's

Check the top weight and bottom one are they tight then check the pulley nut on the rear of the drum is tight. Any play on the inner drum when move it. Also slide the lifter out in the drum and see if there's anything inside it.
 
thanks ,will try all that..i'm assuming I need to remove the pack panel as well as the top??Is that quite straightforward?
its annoying as its quite a young machine but just out of warranty
will let you know how I get on
