House as at 1948 for permitted development?

I recently purchased a house (1930's built) that was extended, but I presume extended a long time. I am looking to extend further however the PD rules states that as the house stood in 1948. If I can include the extension then my work is fine under PD if not then I may need to go through the neighbour consultation. Anyway my question is how can I find how my house stood as at 1948?

Look at nearby houses built at the same time. Where in Bristol do you live.
