House has Japanese Knotweed

Hi,
Im currently buying a house and it turns out it has Japanese Knotweed. The solicitor is concerned about it. Is this a show-stopper? How much would it be to get rid of it? Would it devalue the cost of the house when I come to sell (even if it is completely eradicated)? What damage does it do?

Japanese knotweed is potentially a show stopper as you may not be able to get a mortgage now that the solictor knows that the property has a knotweed problem.

It is problem. Getting rid of it can be very expensive. Your solicitor is right to be concerned

The 1981 Wildlife & Countryside Act made it illegal to plant Japanese knotweed in the wild or to allow it to grow by carelessly disposing of unwanted cuttings or soil.

Ive wrongly identified it! Its actually bind weed. Phew!
