I have a traditional terrace house, with a basement. The basement is not full head height and can only be accessed by a hatch and has no ventilation other than ventilation bricks. As such it's only used for storage and unlikely ever to be used for anything else. Water seeps into the basement during heavy rain causing a musty smell. Given, that I can't use the basement, I don't want to spend excessive money on waterproofing the basement. Would painting the concrete floors/wall with some sort of concrete sealant help the problem?
How do I get rid of musty basement smell cheaply?

Masona is right, the problem will come in the winter when the extra ventilation in the basement will mean a really cold floor though! Regards JohnCo.
