HOW do we replace the door gasket on a HOTPOINT WMA58??

We haven't got a clue and from what i've read elsewhere this is not going to be easy!!
CAN ANYONE please put it in BASIC step by step layman terms for us PLEASE!!
Are there any little tricks or essential tools (sledgehammer springs to mind!) that we will need???
How can i prevent hubby from leaving gouges all over the machine with a misused screwdriver?? (even though he's a skilled worker he is a definate DIYNOT!!
