I installed a potterton prima 100F about 12 years ago and I've just replaced the fan cos the bearings were knackered. Now I'm getting an intermittent electrical fault. There is sparking from the main circuit board. Don't know how much to replace the board but wonder whether to just get a new boiler and have done with it. Any thoughts?

HI

it looks like your boiler is on its last legs . it is worth replacing old boiler with new condensing boilers as they are also energy eficiency and should not give any trouble for atleast few years

Dont listen to Lunat!!!

Replace the PCB, under £100 for one and this might solve your problem

That potterton is a great boiler!!!

The new condensing boilers will save you a few quid on gas but not so much as to recoupe the cost of replacement.

Once parts start to become hard to find that is the time to change.

HI

think you for being so polite superdupergasman.

p.s it was my personal opinion

Even good boilers have got a sell by date, change it...

the engineers who just change it are the ones that cant fix it
would they buy a new car if their exhaust fell off on their 7 year old car :?:

Sums it up quite nicely. Well said gas and oil man.

Reguarding the prima chuck a new pcb on it, should sort you out..
