Hi everyone,
I'm wondering how often people actually get their air ducts cleaned. I change the HVAC filter regularly, but I've never had the ductwork itself cleaned, so I'm not sure if it's something that needs to be done on a schedule or only when there's a problem.
What usually tells you that the ducts need cleaning? I've noticed that there's sometimes dust around a few of the vents, and there seems to be more dust in the house than usual. I'm also wondering if things like poor airflow or a musty smell could be signs of dirty ductwork.
If the ducts do need cleaning, is it important to clean both the supply and return sides? I've seen companies offering different types of duct cleaning and sanitizing, but I'm not really sure what should be included in a proper job.
I'm in Palm Coast, Florida, and I'm thinking about having the system checked before spending money on cleaning. I'd be interested to hear what others have experienced and whether getting the ducts inspected first is worthwhile.
