Bought a new tap, but it won't fit in existing hole.

How do I enlargen it?

If possible, I would want to pick up parts from toolstation or screwfix

So a link would be greatly appreciated

Explain more clearly. Which is too big. The tap stem or the hole in the sink?
Can't advise on what to buy if we don't know what part it is for.

Standard kitchen tap holes are 35mm.
If you bought a tap with a larger stem, send it back or you'll regret it in a few years time.

I have a granite sink and I want to change the mixer tap.

I have removed the old tap.

When I tried to put the new one on the hole, it wouldn't fit. So I need to enlarge the hole somehow.

I have a pic. And the existing hole is about 32mm wide.. So just a few mm should see me there. But I need to know the right tools to use so that I don't crack the granite sink.

And preferably I need part from toolstation/ screwfix as store are realdily available to me.

I have a combo drill and grinder if it helps suggestions

Would seriously suggest getting a different tap (mixer with tapped holes and small bore copper tails would do it. Available at TS and Screwfix) . The scope for disaster enlarging a hole in a lump of granite is large.

Agree with @oldbutnotdead . Much safer, and easier, to get the right size tap rather than drill/grind out the granite.
I think you would need some kind of diamond cutter, and the fact you will have no centre point to drill at, means you will probably get a lot of 'chattering' as you were trying.

Are you sure that's granite?
Looks like a Franke composite which you can drill through with cheap hole cutters.
If so, you will need to take a piece of 9mm plywood, cut the 35mm hole in it, then clamp it centered in the position you want and use it as a guide.
Go slow at first.

I took this advice and aborted the DIY mission.

I got a tradesman in to do the job.. and without batting an eyelid, he took out his core drill and diamond bit and enlarged the hole in seconds. Like a knife through warm butter.

Got to be honest, I am a bit annoyed, because I feel like I could have done that. Anyway new tap has been fitted and it looks fabulous
