Hi,

I have recently bought a flat with a very old boiler.

It was working fine before the summer and the flame is on, so I presume that there is not enough pressure in the system.

I found a valve at the bottom with the word "Prescor" on it, but when I turn it, it would only seem to empty the system (see attache image)

So far, with all my previous boilers, I usually manage to find how to change the water pressure, but there are not indications on this one.

I can't afford to pay a plumber and also I feel a bit silly to call someone if the problem is only the pressure.

Could you help?

Thanks,

Elena

Hello again,

I found out that I needed to top up with water a unit for sealed heating systems, which I did. But still not heating!

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Elena

The valve you have been turning looks like a Pressure Relief Valve, (PRV), which is to allow excess pressure in the system to safely discharge outside under fault conditions. If pressure in the system has been reduced too low then you may need to vent the radiators and get all the air out. (Keep an eye on the pressure and top up as required whilst you do this.)

If it still wont work check external controls are calling for heat, and time clock is telling boiler to run.
