In my line of work i get to see a few plasterers & i've asked them this question & they just seem to laugh nervously & do a lot of umming & yeahing followed by some errrrr'ing & then some mmmm'ing.

In other words i get the impression it can't be done so i'll throw it out to a wider audience...

Some of you will know that our plastered walls need to come off (some of them anyway).
When the room was done we didn't intend on getting the ceiling done. It was only after the walls were done that we decided the ceiling would be a good idea & it was then overboarded. As such i guess we have a situation where we are example B in the following image where the ceiling butts into the wall instead of the wall butting up to the ceiling:

The ceiling (aside from fibatape showing through in a couple of patches) is ok & we wouldn't want it wrecking.

How can we remove all of the wall without making a mess of the ceiling? And then when everything is done & dusted, would you expect the finish to look ok?

The advantage of asking online is that you lot can't ummm, errrr & mmmm me so you'll have to upload audio files

Hello
Where wall joins the ceiling , cut through the joint with a
stanley knife .Keep cutting until the blade can go no further.
Do the same to the wall joints, the wall is now a separate entity.
Make a hole in the middle of the board and work outwards.

A very straightforward job to do. As Clive said, cut along the ceiling line and down the wall corners, and that's it. The wall plaster/boarding can now be removed, then the wall surface re-newed. When you're ready to re-board the wall, or whatever, put new tapes along the ceiling line, and down the 2 internal wall corners, then finish off the wall. I don't know how your "plasterers" couldn't tell you that. :?

Thanks guys. Funnily enough i caught up with a plasterer who i'd been waiting on at work (everyone at work seems to say good things about the man) & he said "just get your sharpest stanley & take it very slowly".
