Howdens quote - please help :)

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and i'm having a new kitchen built, I wanted to know if any of you more experienced folk were able to see if this quote was fair? Also, wanted to check if there's anything in there that we don't really need.

I have already decided that i won't be using the Howdens appliances so they can be ignored.

The discounts have ranged from 60 - nearly 95% in some cases as far as I can tell

Fantastic what you can get direct from the containers on liverpool docks .

Went to the factory in Yorkshire to see them being made. Quality better than you will see in vast majority of showrooms and manufactured in UK here so helping out economy. Even our builder was impressed and he likes quality stuff, he'll be using them in the future when he gets the chance.

If the OP isn't interested then he can pay Howdens walk up punter prices if he likes, but he will do better elsewhere. (Howdens does OK stuff but they they don't like selling to DIYers so another good reason to take your business elsewhere)

I dont understand how you are doing the work yourself as on the side of the trailers in our yard it clearly states to the trade only!!

Magnet and Howdens are always having a sale, one has just finished, the next is just around the corner!!

Yeah, howdens are a bit funny with DIYers. In my experience, they will give a price if the order is large enough and there aren't any tradesment in the room but it's ridiculously high. If you want anything from there you need to get your builder to buy it, when he will get a good price for good stuff. Depends on your relationship with your builder on how much he marks it up.

But for kitchens he needs to look elsewhere anyway, and in any event I try not to use suppliers who won't give DIYers a fair price, but sometimes you have to be pragmatic.

To the OP

The glendevon is one of the pricier kitchens, that Howdens do. Also you have a few decor panels and curved units...they jack the price up on any kitchen from any supplier.

Personally find howdens kitchens to be one of the best out there.
Fitted around 60 of them to date, so have had fair experience of them.

You could try and save a bit by getting your sink, taps and appliances elsewhere. Last kitchen I did before xmas, my customer shopped around and saved over £500 on these items alone.
