If there's any roofers out there please could you chime in with your opinion.

Had a flat roof replaced and this is the final product.

I've attached photos of it dry and after a couple of buckets of water.

I'm no roofer and i dont think it looks that great to be honest...

The felting is pretty ropey: it doesn't look new tbh.

So far as the slight ponding is concerned it's of no consequence of itself but what does a "new roof" mean? Unless the whole thing is properly levelled before the decking goes on there will be hollows

I demolished an old shed a few years back. The roof had 7 layers of felt on it. It was HEAVY!
With regard to flat roofs per se, I have only had negative experiences.
In my mind, rainwater should never be static. It should run down, down, down... and away into the ground.

Well mrbiffle... If you were after a quick fix to keep the rain out for a few years, and you didn't part with an unearthly sum, this rather shoddy example of a new flat roof might be just the job!
I paid circa £4k for the Rolls Royce of flat roofs a while back. It was guaranteed for 25 years, which sounds like a long time... to a 20 year old. In actual fact, it's the blink of an eye.

Looks a bit bumpy.
Could be the old felt roof wasn't stripped off and an overlay of mineral felt torched on over the existing roof.
If he is concerned about appearance, he could use chipping compound and a layer of stone chips to hide any imperfections.
