Hunt for a Van

As you say, it probably suits you better than any other type of van but:

Can you afford it - hp charges will add to the cost?
Does that price or any finance charges include VAT?
What are the insurance and servicing costs?
Does this come under the expensive vehicle tax supplement - over £40k = extra £440 on the road tax for years 2-6?
Is it worth spending this much on a vehicle for a part time job?
Will you be happy lugging all your tools and equipment around with you on a family outing?

I doubt whether you’ll get anywhere hear 32 miles range on electric or 166mpg on petrol so take those figures with a pinch of salt and bear in mind that a commercial crew cab vehicle with seats in will not be a comfortable ride.

One other thing, a good thing for you, being PHEV, you can charge it at home with just a granny lead.

It might be worth getting an exact quote on the insurance bearing in mind if you insure it SDP you can’t use it for business so you will have to insure it for business use with a SDP extension.

Not really, but more so can I afford not too.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul, I can put 20 grand deposit down.

On that van the Vat is included.

Service is 25000 mile or every 2 years. So not bad

I was reading about this last night. This could determine if I go for the flashier model or the more basic.

I love the school job. But if a contract come about or other job possibilities come knocking Id take a look.
Will you be happy lugging all your tools and equipment around with you on a family outing?
The van would have to be very organised and Id have to adapt.

I dont get what they mean by 166mpg. That seems ridiculous.

so take those figures with a pinch of salt
I will

Ill be in the front , driving.

The grass verge torn up around the estate. P¡sses me off.
It gives me horns when I apply to buy the land so I can charge my electric van.

Id insure it so that I can use for school use. This is the give and take I have with the headmistress.
Shes so good about me doing my own work.
As long as the school is running ok then shes ok with me.

Yes! Of course you can afford not to spend a huge amount on a van that you might or might not use. Is that £20k you have, burning a hole in your pocket? You don’t need, you want. Sit yourself down and give yourself a good talking to. What does Mrs Bod say about all this new dual purpose £40k vehicle caper?

I have money that is burning a hole. I dont know what to do with it.

I need something reliable for the next 5 years but more than likely 10.

I could spend 10 grand and buy a problem.

What ever way I look at it ....I need another van.

40k for a van I'd rather have a car and put the seats down
I like to see a nice car but they dont excite me!

Im very practical. If I spend alot of money then it needs to pay for itself.

I said about my Brothers BMW.
Id buy it ti sell it but would never feel comfortable owning one.

Its a luxury that wouldn't suit me.

Thats Funny Pete.

I have a Movano that my mates going to have.
Its worth more than my car if I chose to trade in.

I have a 2010 CVR auto. I said to my mate yesterday. If we converted the Honda , could he work from it?
The CRV has another 250000 miles in it. So its not a terrible idea!

He could, I couldn't
