Has anyone fitted these. The instructions aren't clear. Do they require a special tap for some reason?

Says this about the taps. Not sure why a standard single lever mixer can't be used?

Hi,

I may be wrong, but a single lever mixer probably can't be used, because of the risk of cold backfeeding into the boiler, or hot water backfeeding into the cold mains supply?

Spray head taps are either all, or nothing!
It may be unsuitable to have a conventional tap dribbling out hot water; the boiler could overheat, because it can't dissipate it's heat quickly enough.
Or, there may not be enough flow detected for the heater to turn itself on!

But these are only my guesses! :)

As @muggles . I have a similar device feeding a washbasin in the garage. A dribble of warm water is what you get- never bothered doing the sums, 1 litre per minute is probably what it is delivering at 3kwh. Ideal for occasional or emergency use, rubbish for frequent use.
Not sure why it prohibits single lever taps (mine works with a lever tap but have used the flow restrictor on the heater so with tap wide open you get warm water rather than having to mess about getting tap position just right.)
EDIT Just seen the price- eek. If you have a suitable supply of electricity, this or similar https://www.screwfix.com/p/ariston-aures-electric-instant-water-heater-9-5kw/305FJ will give you better results. Still nowhere as good as a combi or a tank but better.

Thanks the 9.5 kw would be better there is a 8.5kw shower in the same bathroom. Will there be too many Amps on the breaker with having both. Thought does diversity come in to play? With them very unlikely to be used at the same time?

You'd be much safer ditching the 8.5 shower and using the 9.5 heater to run shower and washbasin (they are designed to do this job).
Guaranteed at some stage someone will start the shower & run the hot tap at the same time for some reason. If the cabling is up to the job I believe there are 10.5 versions of those flash heaters available.
NB Diversity would only apply if you ran another cable from new heater to CU and put a new breaker in (which is all notifiable work).
