Ian Huntley

himmy2 will be a long shortly to agree with him
I am glad you feel the need to seek my opinion. I didn't realise the value you placed on it, I'm flattered.

But, yes, I would absolutely prefer a civilised society, with a proper justice system.
Huntley's crime were heinous, applauding lynch mob mentality is almost as equally heinous. People are sent to prison as a punishment, not for the punishment to be meted out by other prisoners.
I suspect the prisoner that attacked Huntley failed to get his 'infamy' through his original crime, so he sought that infamy by attacking Huntley.
Or he wanted to demonstrate his propensity for violence in the prison.

Whatever his motivation, I doubt it was for retribution against a child-killer. It was more likely for respect among his peers, or a demonstration of his willingness to resort to violence, or he just felt the need to be violent.

This illustrates the level of violence in British prisons, and that should be a concern for us all.

What's farcical is that he didn't receive a WLT at the time. Could theoretically be out in his 70s. Could have a decade or more of freedom. Something he denied those little girls of, freedom to live their life.

Yes he should have got a WLT, but at the time of sentencing the system was going through changes from ministers setting the tariff to Judges alone. And full implementation was not until 2005.

OMG, reported
