they have a pre heat on the h/water so when not on they still fire occasionaly,then when hot shut off
im tending not to agree Gordon. is the ICOS not a system boiler?
so shouldnt have a diverter valve and would only be comming on if there was a fault with the wiring/zone valve/frost protection etc?
when the boilers making noises does the display come up with any letters or numbers?

It might help you described the noise you're hearing otherwise how are we meant to know if it's normal or not? E.g. is the sound just like when the boiler is (meant to be) running? A ticking sound? Something else?
