Hi all,

I have an Ideal boiler which was working just fine (inc CH) till the cold snapped back on Thurs. Then the CH just stopped ... I had my usual handyman guy come and look at it, but he just reset the boiler and it worked fine after (but he mentioned some problem with the hard reset).

Unfortunately, once the temperature in the flat reached the minimum I have set on the remote, it turned the CH off, and it's now staying off ... I've tried turning the boiler on / off directly, and even tried turning the main fuse on / off to see if that would reset the CH. Still no joy.

The remote has the "CH on" icon flagged up, but there's no CH :( Is this a fatal issue? Would I need to have the boiler changed? How much is a combi-boiler these days anyways?

Thanks for all your time!

I expect that your boiler will have an RF receiver to grab the signal from the remote. Unually an external unit supplied with the remote.

How about seeing if its locked up or if it has batteries which need changing although many RX units are mains powered.

What make is the remote? Has the receiver(boiler) end got any lights or buttons?

Hiyas,

The override switch on that receiver appears to work - but whatever it is that does the receiving doesn't ... I guess I might need that part replaced. hmm

Thanks for the suggestion - at least it's not cold anymore :p

On most of those units there is an installation procedure to follow to enable the receiver to learn the identity of the sender.

Read the instructions and you should see the procedure to follow to set it up again.

They can be disturbed by lightening or strong RF transmissions in the locality or even similar units nearby.
