Hello,

Our roof was replaced about a year before we bought the house, so is about 3-4 years old. I recently noticed a yellowed patch inside the lining, as if there had been a leak that had dried out. (I don't think the yellow patch had been there previously, as I don't remember having seen it before.)

The outside of the roof does have some sort of vent on it. Most other vents in the street seem to have a cap on them but this one doesn't. (However, the vent on the back of the house where there is no similar problem doesn't have one either.)

At first, I thought there might have been a problem with the vent, but looking at these two photos, it seems as if the yellow patch is quite some way above the vent anyway.

Incidentally, on the inside photo, you can see there is some white mould-type bloom on the joists. I am pretty sure this appeared around the same time as the yellow patch.

Does anyone have any ideas before I try calling a roofer to see if I can track it down? I don't really know a great deal about this kind of thing!

Cheers,

Dave

No, me neither, which is why the dried out yellowed damp patch and the slight mould on the nearby joists are puzzling me!
