great site. real quality information. just started out fault finding and seems to be going ok. just want to run something past you knowledgable folks. ignition sequence for automatic boiler is spark, burner lowflame, flame rectification, main burners opens, flame rec continues to keep open main burner?????if i see a boiler low flame for second then goes out is that a fair chance that the rectification probe is damaged???? thanks

possible, but can also be other things, electrode, lead or PCB.....or APS dropping out or thermistor out of range. lots to think about.

First thing to check is in this scenario is burner pressure (too low) as rectification proving will be longer than 1 second, more likely 10 seconds.

yeah meant to say that. obviously if bp low the rectifcation probe cant sense the flame presense. thaANKS GUYS .just wanted confirmation on that. great site

automatic ignition boiler ( ie valliant turbomax 824). continual sparking. in order to fault find this can you immediately rule out flame rectifcation failure since the boiler continually sparks and no intial low flame?? reading up on im going for gas turned off(very common!!!)gas valve itself(no resistance or stuck or pcb not sending signal for valve to open, spark gap more then 3mm( found that last week. simply squezzed the electrodes little closer and that solved that. i guess heat bends the electrodes out of position.damaged electodes. leads? have i listed all the causes of continual sparking??

thanks
