Hi,
We have "minimiserSE" iIdeal boiler which has a thermostat control and a led showing that the burner is on/off. It's about 12 years old. The thermostat on the boiler is kept between 3 and 4 on the dial.
What we find is that sometimes the burner light doesn't come on - set it on the timer, the burner light is off but the boiler is on in that you can hear it making a noise. What we do is down the thermostat to 0 so that it switches off, turn it all the way up to it's maximum, wait and it seems to turn on.
When it's running, when the required temp is reached according to the thermostat in the landing, it switches off which is fine. However, if we turn up the thermostat in the landing, you can hear the boiler working but the led is not on. The remedy is to do what I've described above with the thermostat on the boiler.
So, is the boiler on the way out or is there some other problem that can be fixed?
Thanks for your help.
Regards
MT
