Hi All,

We have a 1yr old IKEA dishwasher, a good one in the spec department, so rather annoyed that after only 1 yr and no abuse, the upper tray is not being cleaned at all.

I have done all the obvious things, and got as far as "making the switch" on the door and taking out the sprayers to see the water flow. While the lower is bombing out, the upper spray supply midway up the back wall is simply falling out with no pressure behind it at all.

I leaned in a blew down the pipe and no blockage is noted, this is also tru of the sprayers etc, all clean as a "dishwasher" ??

So what now...?

It should be under waranty but its a Christmas Bank Holiday today & tomorrow.. If its something simple someone here knows about can you please help?

I'd rather DIY, most tradesman have very little respect of your nice floor, cupboard doors, etc, etc... Experience provides this!

Thanks In advance.

Steve

Be aware you could risk invalidating your warranty
If you have tried everything in your user manual without success but still wish to pursue a DIY solution regardless then please post the machine service number 85-- ---- ----.
BTW, I have to warn you...comments about tradesmen having little respect for your property may catch you some flack. Many good souls offering their considerable experience & time free of charge on this forum are in fact qualified service engineers....or "tradesmen" if you like.

Hi Thanks.

On reading back my "tradesman" comment does not read as intended.
Let me clarify so as not to offend.

We have, in the last 18,months has an extensive loft conversion and upgrade carried out downstairs and from start to finish we have been let down and stressed out all by tradesmen we initially chose specifically for their seemingly professional approach. . The Joiner fitted new windows to our entire house 4 of which leak (in the new conversion), and never resolved, ALL windows & doors are draughty. The plumber failed to connect the hot water feed to upstairs and I now have a 4m extension above floor level to supply, ill fitted push fit couplings and 22mm sporadic lagging on 15mm water pipe gave me 2 burst pipes 3 weeks ago. Bricky made a total ar5e of the brickwork outside blocking off old doors, Driveway guy left my 3K steps incomplete with render and chipped cement, and my monoblock is starting to sink after 4 months.... Topped off by two cowboy tilers who should be buried with the disaster they left in a easy small bathroom, the list CAN go on.

Apologies to anyone offended, my skepticism is [/u][/b]well founded.
All help is much appreciated !!

Steve

I can understand your trepidation after such a traumatic experience so no offence taken. Ikea have expanded their manufacturer base in the last couple of years. You have an Electrolux produced machine as opposed to Whirlpool (which was previously their sole supplier). The first thought that occurs to me (if the upper spray arm is clear) is that it is suffering from a pressure loss. There are 3 o-ring connections between the circulation motor and the upper spray arm. A leak on either (or a crack in the manifold transfer pipe on the outer right hand side) could cause the symptoms you describe. If the manifold transfer pipe is cracked you would probably have noticed a leak by now. So I think the first thing I would look at would be the connections from the transfer pipe (at the upper right hand side inside the tub) to the spray arm itself. Please bear in mind that if you have a valid warranty and the fault is due to component failure then the seller/manufacturer bear the responsibility to rectify the problem.

Hi Fella,

Thanks for the help.

You are right, there should be a warranty issue there I think.

Do you know if it can be addressed from the front and inside ?

The floor was installed AFTER the unit (same guy), It WILL come out.. under duress though. My concerns (tradesmen etc) would be the physical wrestle that would we be required and any damage possibly accrued from it..

If all else fails I will be in touch.

Many thanks again.

Steve

Sorry for a late reply. You should be able to check the seals & connection to the upper spray arm from the inside (at least as far as the transfer pipe connection, after that it is external). Good luck :D

Its still under Warranty thankfully ( 2yrs ) engineer coming in the morning.

Will post up solution if resolved for all to see when found!
