Just a quickie for you - if theres one immersion heater circuit supplying 2 seperate immersion heaters (in one tank) both are 3kW each, surely this needs to be turned into 2 seperate circuits one for each, as if both immersions were on at the same time they will pop out the 16A MCB.

Also how would you connect up a immersion heater time clock (economy 7 type from Newlec) which has a boost function. Currently the off peak supply controls the lower immersion heater, but the boost function wants to switch on the higher element.

Ah, just a thought, is 1 circuit for both ok, if the time clock doesnt allow both elements (ie off peak elemnt and boost element) to be on at the same time?? Thanks all...

Re that timer, it is designed to be connected to a PEAK circuit, live 24/7. You then set the time and leave it. It is designed for the bottom element, or the only element.

There are other variations which have two supplies / one output, two supplies, two outputs etc etc etc.

What is the exact model you are wanting to use?

Its OK now, as I have installed a new immersion heater circuit for the boost element, and got rid of the economy 7 time clock and put in a bog standard 24hr clock as the customer didnt want it on for the minimum time of 3.5hrs on the economy 7 clock.

Thanks for your reply anyway Lectrician!!
