Hi there, probably an extremely simple question but here goes anyway....
Got a problem with the immersion tank. It tripped the MCB in the board and wouldnt reset. I looked into the timeclock which had two flexes outgoing to the tank. One for the off-peak and one for a manual boost. I basically bypassed the timeclock and connected one flex in and the trip went. Tried the other flex and that is operating correctly.
My question is could it be a faulty thermostat or is it likely to be the whole element.
Thanks in anticipation.

The thermostat could not cause an MCB to trip unless the contacts had shorted to earth, which would be extremely unlikely.

New immersion heater required.

if its tripping the mcb itd unlikely to be the stat, if it were the stat i would just expect it to stop working.

yup im afraid to say its almost certain to be the element.

thanks guys im just a rookie sparky who has yet to endure the joys of changing an element.
Cheers again
Dave
