I want to remove the wall between kitchen and d/room. Instead of propping and chopping I am thinking of placing the required beam in situ first (right adj to the wall) then chopping out the old wall. I have plenty of time so no pressure as it's DIY. I understand for uncomplicated jobs like this this is a method used sometimes. Anyone done this? Looking for advice. UK Dorset region. Thanks.

For any load bearing wall you need to suport whatever its you're holding up. If its suporting timber that over sail it then you could put something in front first. I've read you post a few times but its a lil hard to understand and maybe the reason why ppl haven't responded.
