Installing hive on Grant oil combi boiler

Hi guys

I’m trying to install Hive on Combi oil boiler

Am l right to think that l just need to remove the current thermostat controller?

What would the cabling diagram be after removing the current thermostat?

Hard to tell exactly, but yes, sounds feasible. Looks like existing has a permanent live and permanent neutral, common and heating on, which is what you’d need for a Hive single channel receiver.

The same back plate is used for thermostats, programmers, and combination thermostat/programmer. The norm is to look on the back of the item removed there is normally a diagram. Many oil combi boilers are really a boiler with a reservoir inside the boiler for the hot water, as hard to make an oil boiler modulate.

The wire on 1 and 4 with 2 and 3 unused seems odd, so would want to see diagram on back of existing unit.

Not sure why you've bought a Hive dual channel channel to replace a single channel? I think you need to safely to terminate the common on existing (1) and then transfer the wires over copying the same layout. What you also need to do is decommission the existing thermostat if you have one link the wires or turn it up to maximum and let the hive take over

We hand normal boiler in our previous property and we brought the Hive with us.

we have dual channel hive receiver, are we able to utilise this to also control the water temperature?

Utilise which part? Heating will work, I don't think hot water will as it's there for cylinders usually

just for the heating.
