Installing hot water cylinder timer...

The immersion in my new build doesnt work. I brought the builders' electrician back in and he said that the thermostat was dead. He's due to come back next week and sort it.

I'm just wondering if its possible to get him to install a hot water cylinder timer at the same time? Would this involve any more work for him? What timer should I get?
