Have just had hideous old stone 70s/80s fire surround removed. I would like to to instal a new fire surround and hearth. This will probably be decorative only initially, but I would like the option to later on to use the fireplace either as solid fuel fire or gas fire.
My question is, who should I get in to fit the fire surround? Do I need to get a HETAS person to do it, given that I want to possibly use the fireplace? Are there any building regs that need to be taken into account?
