HI, can anyone tell me how to secure a upvc window 30" x 30"
where to put the screws in , how many, all sides, including top ?
will be screwing into breeze block, special screws / plugs ?
any help appreciated

Various fixings are used for pvc, i started in the trade 20years ago when fischers were the fixings of choice, then worked for numerous others who used hammer fixings but most have moved on to plugless screws now including tapcons or spax. Either way 8x100's should do the job and 2 on each side and at least 100mm away from the corners.

hi crank 39, thanks for the quick response,
what is the header of the window, i remember reading that it is best not to screw into the header ,because it could damage the structure of the window,
so i would be worried if i put 2 screws in the top of my window after reading that, so could you tell me what do they mean by the header

The header would be classed as the top/horizontal part of the window, i've never come across this complaint. On a 2.4m wide window you have to screw upwards into the lintel as there would be loads of whip over that span but if your window is only 2ft square then 2 fixings on each vertical side will be fine but 100mm away from the corners, sometimes you can crack a weld when tightening up the fixings as theres not much bend/give in the pvc in the corners.

thanks again crank39, i now feel confident in going ahead with this job.
as you said it's only a small window so there should'nt be a problem,
cheers
