Hi, i have been asked to install a 9.5kw instant water heater for a friend. i will be using 10mm cable with either a 40 or 45 amp mcb. do i need to install a fused spur/isolation switch before the heater or is it ok to just connect straight into the heater itself? any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Are you sure you are competent to do this?
You should know that a fused spur can be a max of 13amp so that's out.

Certainly you should have an isolator switch near the appliance.

You'll obviously need to run a new circuit so you'll have to comply with Building Regulations Part P and notify before you start work.

If you dont know then get a qualified & registered spark in to do this.

PS, Is this an under sink or over sink heater? You may need to use special taps if its under sink..
