Hi,

I am looking into insulating the stud partition wall that separates my hall from the porch. The porch is internal (external walls are 2 bricks thick with cavity wall insulation) with a bedroom being above the porch. The majority of the walls are then simply very thin hardboard on battens. Being unheated and large door/ glass the porch is very cold. I am keen to improve the thermal performance of the porch when we redecorate it, reducing heat loss from the hall through the partition wall and heat loss from the bedroom above through the ceiling.

My questions are:

1) for the internal stud wall between hall and porch, if i remove the plasterboard (porch side) can I just fit in rockwell/ celotex or similar? If so do I need to but a vapour barrier in too? I will be replacing the internal glass window and door with something more efficient.

2) for the ceiling I was planning to rip current boards down and then seal any voids above, before replacing with possibly insulated plasterboard?

3) for the remaining external walls, would I need to use either wet plaster or insulated board to meet building regs, even though this room is technically unheated, but still part of the main house structure?

Uploaded a pic, shows the glass window above the door of the porch at join with hall. The rest of this wall is stud partition. You can also see the thin hardboard around front door hiding double thickness wall.
